Ergonomic Programs
Ergonomics remains at the forefront of injury prevention in today’s workplace. Ergonomic Assessments can be performed proactively or reactively. Proactive Ergonomic Assessments are optimal and prevent injuries related to repetitive stress and strain. Reactive Ergonomic Assessments prevent further or new injuries after an initial injury or strain has already occurred. Both approaches, used together, form the basis of a comprehensive program.
Repetitive motion and improper body mechanics can lead to back injuries and other musculoskeletal and cumulative trauma disorders such as carpal tunnel, tendonitis, bursitis, sprains, strains, or hernias. According to US Department of Labor Statistics, these types of injuries are most often caused by overexertion in lifting and/or repetitive motion.1 They are most prevalent in industries such as manufacturing, services, transportation, health care and utilities.
ErgoScience clinicians perform worksite Ergonomic Assessments, offer recommendations for workspace modifications and/or educate employees on body mechanics, work behaviors, and proper positioning that to prevent and reduce injuries. Most of the recommendations can be implemented at a very low cost relative to the cost of further injuries, creating an excellent ROI for this intervention. Ergonomic Assessments can be scheduled nationwide.
